| Welcome to Freeschool Court Evangelical Church |
|
We are a group of around 150 people who meet regularly to worship God. Our desire is to see the good news of Jesus Christ transforming people’s lives in Bridgend and beyond. Whether you are a committed Christian or just curious you are welcome to attend any of our services. We hope you enjoy exploring the site.
The main aims of our church can be summarised as follows: 1. The worship of God, centred on the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, the practice of believers' baptism and the regular remembrance of the Lord’s Supper. 2. The cultivation of a caring fellowship for mutual encouragement, support and accountability. 3. The advancement of the Christian faith, in accordance with our basis of faith, in Bridgend and beyond. 4. To demonstrate a concern and compassion for others, especially, but not exclusively, in our locality. Our ethos is symbolised in the tree of our logo. Our essential nature does not change since we are rooted in Christ. However as a living body our appearance and form vary over time with the changing seasons of life in a changing culture. As a result we don’t dismiss history and tradition as irrelevant rather we value the insights and understanding of those who have gone before us. But neither do we worship the past as though history and tradition were infallible. Every age has its strengths and weaknesses, its insights and blind spots. We don’t want to simply be ‘children of our own age’ but neither do we want to become obscure and out of touch with our contemporary culture. Therefore we seek to value the past whilst thoughtfully engaging with the present. |
